Desirae Barragan, BS
Gabrieleno Band of Mission Indians of Southern California
Desirae Barragan is an enrolled member of the Gabrieleno Band of Mission Indians of Southern California, pursuing a career in public health and medicine with a strong focus on serving California Tribal communities. She holds two Bachelor degrees from UCLA in American Indian Studies and Human Biology and Society and is an aspiring MD/MPH. She has three years of advancing the health and wellness of Native peoples across California. She is a We Are Healers- Healers Community Circle Fellow and is actively involved with the Native Dermatology Society, further strengthening her dedication to increase Indigenous representation in medicine. Her work centers on promoting health equity through culturally grounded approaches, with particular interests in Substance Use Prevention, Tribal Public Health, and Urban Native health systems, while integrating Indigenous knowledge and data sovereignty into future clinical practice.
